Wills

Anyone who owns property or other assets of value should make a Will to ensure that the disposal of such assets is in accordance with your wishes after your death. Our experienced staff will take time to talk through those wishes in person and a draft will be sent to you for approval before the final Will is executed. Our reasonable prices mean that this process is inexpensive and we will even store your Will free of charge at our offices. If you are unwell and unable to come to our offices, we can make arrangements to visit you at home.

Hearne & Co. are also pleased to be utilizing the UK's first fully electronic national register of Wills – www.certainty.co.uk We believe that this is a fantastic initiative to ensure that wills can be easily located by relatives in the event of a person's death.

Probate

We are able to relieve the burden at this difficult time by obtaining the necessary Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration, the legal documentation required to control someone's affairs after their death.

Lasting Powers of Attorney (Property and Affairs / Personal Welfare)

People often choose to elect a family member or close friend to be an "Attorney" who can act on their behalf if they become unable to deal with their own property and affairs due to physical or mental ill health.

The advantage of making a Lasting Power of Attorney is that you decide who is to act for you and the sort of decisions that they can make. This prevents the need for a full application to the Court of Protection which is a lengthy and costly procedure during which your assets may be frozen and may even result in the appointment of a different person to the one that you would have chosen yourself.
